COMMON FAQ'S

WHAT ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE OUT OF?

Please read  About Our Candles.

WHERE ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE?

We make every candle by hand in our studio in Castle Rock, Colorado.

ARE TLB CANDLES SAFE?

Our candles are safe when used as directed on the label. They undergo extensive quality and safety testing under rigorous burn and use conditions and meet or exceed all applicable industry and government standards for safety and performance. Many factors beyond the construction of the candle itself can affect its performance, such as room drafts, debris that may have accumulated in the wax’s melt pool, wick length, and proper pre-burn trimming.

For safe candle usage instructions, visit our About Our Candles

WHAT IS TUNNELLING IN A CANDLE, AND HOW TO AVOID IT?

Tunneling is when a candle doesn't burn evenly, creating a hole or 'tunnel' in the candle. Tunneling will create a hole, and each time you light the candle, the hole will become deeper. This will reduce the lifespan of the candle and its visual appearance.  Make sure you have enough time for your candle's initial burn. Your first burn must be between 3.5 to 4 hours. The first 1-3 burns should melt the wax to the edge of the container, ensuring that it does so evenly down the glass as your candle melts. For a clean burn, please always trim your wicks based on the warning label at the bottom of the candle before each use.

WHY IS MY CANDLE FLAME SO HIGH AND JUMPING?

Flames can become too high (and jump) if the wick is too long and potentially dangerous. Remember to trim the wick before each use. Check out our candle care kit

WHAT IS A SLOW-BURNING CANDLE?

Depending on the size of the candle vessel, it may take 3-4 hour burns to get a complete melt pool (from edge to edge of the vessel), thus creating a slow-burning candle.

HOW TO CUT WOODEN WICKED CANDLES?

You can use candle wick trimmers, nail clippers, or nail pliers.

WHY DOES MY CANDLE HAVE HOLES AND BUMPS AFTER COOLING?

Visual wax imperfections are the characteristics of soy waxes. This is caused by how the wax cools after the flame is extinguished. This does not affect the performance of the candle itself.

WHY CAN'T I SMELL MY CANDLE?

We advise allowing the candle to reach a full melt pool in order to experience the candle's scent. At times, we may experience nose blindness which is a temporary natural occurrence where the body adapts to the scents in your environment and leads to the inability to distinguish between scents in your environment. It is also important to place candles in appropriate rooms. Example, smaller candle will give a better hot throw in a smaller room such as a powder bathroom or small bedroom.

ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE WITH ESSENTIAL OR PERFUME OILS?

We use essential oils because they are pure. Blending pure essential oils within natural wax ensure no form of synthetic fragrance is used which will boost your well-being.

ARE THE CANDLES VEGAN?

Yes, all our candles are vegan.

WHY STOP BURNING WHEN THERE IS 1/2" OF WAX LEFT?

When the majority of the wax has been consumed, the flame will heat the container making the bottom of the jar hot. To prevent possible heat damage to your container and surface, stop burning after only 1/2" of your candle is left.
